Thank you Joyce Finch and Joyce (Nash) Waddford for your help transcribing surnames and proof reading the end.
1840
There are 34 pages (1-34 for Clay county in this census
but only the odd page numbers (17) contained information and are on this
site. Plus, there were 4 families that had 'free Color' family members
in their households that is display seperately.
To make room to display all the information with ease to read, the age brackets are grouped by threes
| Ages | 0<5 5<10 10<15 | 15<20 20<30 30<40 | 40<50 50<60 60<70 | 7<80 80<90 90<100 =>100 |
Jim had transcribed the 1840 census using excel, and the layout looked exactly as looking at ta printed census form. Though, after hours of trying, there was no way to convert it to display on the site. With that, I would like to say Thank you Jim for your hard work and for trying. I am sorry it did not work.
Thank you Hannah, my 11 yrs. old grand-daughter. She tried so hard to read the handwriting. We had a great time and laughs doing this but, had to throw in the flag and ask for help.
Thank you Jim, Joyce, and Joyce for your part to transcribing and proof reading! Without your help, Hannah would be 111 yrs. old, and bald! Most of all, these pages may have never made the site.
1850
This seems to be a partial census. From what I can make out,
researchers submitted of what was their surnames. My goal down
the road is to complete it and put it in order as on the 1850 microfilm.
It is not linked yet, as I have to reformat the pages.
Smiles!
